Living Your Best with Early Stage Alzheimer’s

One of the most confusing diagnoses to receive is Alzheimer’s disease. While most of us know it means an inevitable decline, those newly diagnosed are usually overcome with fear of the unknown future that lays in front of them. We understand this confusion, and we are specially trained to support the needs of people in the early stage of any dementia, and their families.

OPICA offers individual counseling support to aid in understanding and help to build healthy strategies for the road ahead, for the person with dementia or for their CAREgiver. We also offer couples and family counseling to fortify the entire system of loved ones.

As a group approach, OPICA’s Brain Train is specifically designed for people in the early stage of dementia. This weekly four-hour program, delivered by a professional multi-disciplinary team, provides experiential learning of techniques to support memory, improve communication and enhance creativity. This group also supports participants by providing opportunities for friendship with others managing the disease as well.

A support group for family CAREgivers is offered concurrently to provide verbal peer-to-peer support, centered around conversations that produce a better understanding of dementia and specific care management strategies.

We have been a memory-loss resource to the community for more than 35 years, we understand dementia, and we are eager to provide support.
